Summary
Malik cites the words of God in Surah al-Ma'ida: O you who believe, do not kill game while you are in ihram; and whoever of you kills it deliberately, its penalty is an equivalent of what he killed of livestock, judged by two just men among you, as an offering reaching the Kaaba (Al-Ma'ida Al-Ma'ida 95). One who hunts game while not in ihram and then kills it while in ihram is like one who buys it while in ihram and then kills it, and God forbade killing it, so he owes its penalty. The editor notes that Abu Musab (1155-1156) transmitted it from Malik. 1
