Summary
A saying transmitted by Yahya: I heard Malik say about fasting six days after the breaking of the fast of Ramadan: he had not seen anyone of knowledge and jurisprudence fast them, and it had not reached him that anyone of the early generations did; people of knowledge dislike it and fear its innovation, and that the ignorant and uncultured would attach to Ramadan what is not part of it, if they saw a dispensation for it among people of knowledge and saw them doing it. The editor notes that Abu Musab (857) transmitted it from Malik, and that discussion of this topic is reported from him. 1
