Summary
A saying of Malik: whoever sees the new moon of Shawwal alone does not break his fast, because people suspect that someone untrustworthy among them would break the fast, and those people would say when they became known: we saw the new moon. Whoever sees the new moon of Shawwal in the daytime does not break his fast, but completes that day's fast, since it is the new moon of the coming night. The editor notes that Abu Musab transmitted it from Malik. 1
