Chain of transmission
Summary
Malik transmits from Abu al-Zinad, from al-A'raj, from Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him), that the Prophet ﷺ said: by Him in whose hand my soul is, one of you would do better to take his rope and gather firewood on his back than to go to a man whom God has given of His bounty and ask him, whether he gives or refuses. The editor notes that 'let him take' is the reading relied on in the Muwatta, and 'that he takes' is the reading of Ibn Nafi. 1
