Summary
Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab, from Ata ibn Yazid al-Laythi, from Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may God be pleased with him), that the Messenger of God ﷺ said: it is not lawful for a Muslim to shun his brother for more than three nights, when they meet and this one turns away and that one turns away; the better of the two is the one who begins with the greeting. The editor notes that Yahya narrated 'yuhajir', while the other transmitters of the Muwatta said 'yuhjir'. 1
