Summary
Malik transmits from Nafi that a slave of Abdullah ibn Umar stole while he had run away, and Abdullah ibn Umar sent him to Said ibn al-As, governor of Medina, so that his hand would be cut off. Said refused to cut off his hand and said: the hand of a runaway is not cut off when he steals. Ibn Umar said to him: in which book of God did you find this? Then Ibn Umar ordered him, and his hand was cut off. 1
