Summary
It reached Malik that Uthman ibn Affan (may God be pleased with him) was brought a woman who had given birth within six months, so he ordered her stoned. Ali ibn Abi Talib (may God be pleased with him) said to him: that is not for her. God mentions in His book that the carrying and weaning are thirty months, and mentions that mothers nurse their children for two full years; so the pregnancy may be six months, and she is not to be stoned. Uthman sent after her, and found that she had already been stoned. 1
