Summary
Malik related that he heard Rabia ibn Abi Abd al-Rahman and others mention that a contract slave of al-Farafisa ibn Umayr al-Hanafi offered to pay him all that he owed of the contract, but al-Farafisa refused. The contract slave went to Marwan ibn al-Hakam, governor of Medina, who summoned al-Farafisa and ordered the money taken from the contract slave and put in the treasury, and said to the contract slave: you are freed. When al-Farafisa saw that, he took the money. 1
