Summary
Yahya said: Malik told us, from Thawr ibn Zayd al-Dili, that he said: it reached me that the Messenger said: any house or land that was divided in the Jahiliyya remains as divided in the Jahiliyya; any house or land that Islam reached without being divided remains as divided in Islam. The editor notes that in the Muwatta the report does not go beyond Thawr ibn Zayd, and Ibn Abd al-Barr saw it connected from Ibn Abbas in other sources. 1
