Summary

Yahya said: I also heard Malik say: whoever destroys food belonging to another without permission returns to the owner the like of its food in measure, of its kind. Food is like gold and silver: gold is returned in gold and silver in silver. Animals are not like gold in this. The Sunna and the practice followed distinguish between them. 1
