Summary
Yahya said: I heard Malik say: the practice among us regarding someone who destroys an animal belonging to another without permission: he owes its value on the day he destroyed it. He is not required to give its like in animals, and he may not give the owner another animal for what he destroyed; he owes its value on the day he destroyed it. Value is the fairest measure between them, in animals and goods. 1
