Summary
Yahya transmits from Malik, from Yahya ibn Said, that he heard al-Qasim ibn Muhammad say that Yazid ibn Abd al-Malik separated men from their women, who were umm walads of men who had died. They had married them after one or two menstrual periods, and he separated them until they completed four months and ten days of waiting. Al-Qasim rejected this and cited the verse in al-Baqara about women whose husbands die. 1
