Chain of transmission
- Malik ibn Anas
- Thawr ibn Zayd al-Dili
Summary
Malik transmits from Thawr ibn Zayd al-Dili that a man used to divorce his wife and then take her back, with no need of her and no wish to keep her, so as to prolong her waiting period and harm her. God then revealed the verse in al-Baqara forbidding keeping them for harm, so that they transgress, and God admonishes them with that. 1
