Summary
Malik says he heard Rabia ibn Abi Abd al-Rahman say: it reached me that the wife of Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf (may God be pleased with him) asked him to divorce her. He said: when you have menstruated and become clean, inform me. She did not menstruate until Abd al-Rahman fell ill. When she became clean she informed him, and he divorced her irrevocably, or with a single divorce that left him no other divorce over her. Abd al-Rahman was ill at the time, and Uthman ibn Affan (may God be pleased with him) made her his heir after her waiting period ended. 1
