Summary
Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab, from Rafi ibn Khadij, that he married the daughter of Muhammad ibn Maslama (may God be pleased with him) al-Ansari, who stayed with him until she grew old. He then married a young woman and preferred her. She asked him for divorce; he divorced her once, waited until her waiting period nearly ended, and took her back. He again preferred the young woman, she asked for divorce, he divorced her once and took her back. He again preferred the young woman, and she asked for divorce; he said: as you wish. Only one divorce remains. Stay with what you see of his preference, or I will part from you. She chose to stay with the preference, and he kept her on that basis. Rafi saw no sin on him for keeping her with that preference. 1
