Chain of transmission

  1. Malik ibn Anas
  2. Nafi' al-Madani
  3. Abdullah ibn Umar ibn al-Khattab
  4. Muhammad

Summary

A report that Malik transmits from Nafi' from Abdullah ibn Umar, in the chapter on practice in the congregational prayer: the Prophet ﷺ came to the mosque of Quba riding and on foot. The editor notes Ibn Abd al-Barr's view that Yahya, al-Qa'nabi, al-Tiba' and Ibn Wahb and Ibn Nafi' transmitted it from Malik from Nafi', while most Muwatta transmitters gave it from Malik from Abdullah ibn Dinar, and the hadith is sound for Malik through both (al-Tamhid). He cites Ahmad and al-Jawhari from Nafi', and Muslim, al-Nasa'i, Ibn Hibban and Ahmad from Abdullah ibn Dinar. 1 2
