Summary

A report that Malik transmits from Amr ibn Yahya al-Mazini from Abu al-Hubab Sa'id ibn Yasar from Abdullah ibn Umar, in the chapter on voluntary prayer on a journey: he saw the Prophet ﷺ pray a voluntary prayer while on a donkey heading for Khaybar. The editor notes that "on a donkey" is an error by Amr ibn Yahya, since the known practice of the Prophet is on his mount or camel. Al-Nasa'i says Amr was not followed in this, and al-Daraqutni in al-Tatabbu' says whoever reported that he prayed on a donkey erred, and the correct form is the act of Anas. He notes that this objection applies to this report alone, since it is established that he prayed on a donkey, as in Anas's hadith in the Sahihayn. He cites Muslim, Abu Dawud, al-Nasa'i, Ahmad and al-Shafi'i. 1
