Summary

A ruling of Malik in the chapter on dry ablution for one in sexual impurity: he was asked about a man in sexual impurity who wanted to perform dry ablution but found no dust except salt-marsh dust, whether he may perform dry ablution with it and whether prayer on it is disliked. He said there is no harm in praying on salt marsh or performing dry ablution with it. He argued that God commanded dry ablution with good dust in the verse of Surat al-Ma'ida, so whatever is dust fit for dry ablution, whether salt marsh or otherwise, qualifies. The editor notes that Abu Mus'ab transmitted it from Malik. 1
