Summary

In the Book of Jihad: Anas ibn Malik (may God be pleased with him) reports about his uncle, who missed Badr and made a vow. When the people scattered at Uhud, he advanced and said to Sa'd ibn Mu'adh, "By the Lord of al-Nadr, I smell Paradise from beyond Uhud". He was found with some eighty wounds, and was mutilated until only his sister recognised him by his fingertips. People thought the verse of Surat al-Ahzab about believers who were true to their covenant with God was revealed about him and others like him. 1
