In the raid of Surad on Jurash
Khath'am took refuge in Jurash. They entered it with its people when they heard of the Muslims' march. Surad ibn Abdullah besieged them, then struck them at Mount Shukr. See the Surad campaign against Jurash 2. Ibn Ishaq says that Khath'am used to raid the Azd in the Jahiliyya, and that they transgressed in the sacred month 3.
According to al-Mas'udi
Their lineage is disputed. Some attach them to Yemen, and others make them descendants of Anmar ibn Nizar 4.
