The Taking of Qal'at Busr

al-Baladhuri, in Futuh al-Buldan, reports that Uqba ibn Nafi sent Busr ibn Abi Artat to a fortress near Kairouan. He took it, killing and taking captives. It is known today as the Fortress of Busr, near a town called Mujana, by a silver mine. ¹

al-Baladhuri says that he heard from someone who mentioned that it was Musa ibn Nusayr who had sent Busr, and that Busr was eighty-two years old. ¹

The author says that Busr was born a year before the Prophet's death. He adds that someone other than al-Waqidi claims that he narrated from the Prophet, and the author concludes with the words "and God knows best." ¹

The date is disputed between the governorship of Uqba and that of Musa ibn Nusayr, and the data give no specific page for it.
