Overview
Umar ibn Hubayra was removed from Khurasan, and Muslim ibn Sa'id was appointed over it. He raided al-Afshin and made peace with him for six thousand heads and handed over his fortress, then returned to Merv and appointed Nasr ibn Sayyar over Tukharistan. 1
To Farghana
Muslim learned that Asad ibn Abd Allah had been appointed over Khurasan, so he set out for Farghana and camped at its city, cut down the trees and ruined the buildings. 1
The retreat
The Khaqan of the Turks came down upon him with his army, so he left Farghana and covered three stages in one day until his beasts were exhausted, and the Turks raided the edges of his army. The source quotes a verse by one of the poets attributed to Muslim that he raided out of fear of being removed. 1
