Summary
In 418 AH the court officials gathered in Baghdad and plotted against the caliph until he removed Abu Kalijar, and the khutba was restored to Jalal al-Dawla Abu Tahir 1.
Context of the dispute
The troops had turned to King Abu Kalijar when the sultan Sharaf al-Dawla died in 416 AH, and his name was read in the khutba in Baghdad. Then the court officials reversed course and demanded that the khutba be restored to Jalal al-Dawla, who had taken power in Basra 2.
