Overview
The first letter
Hulagu tells him that when he set out for Iraq their troops came out against him and he killed them, and that the lord of that city came out to serve him, then lied to him and deserved death. He calls on al-Nasir to answer him, and says that the fortresses of Syria will not stop him. 1
The second and third letters
In the second he mentions the conquest of Baghdad and the end of its rule, and promises safe conduct to whoever answers his call. In the third he describes the lands and people he destroyed, and announces that they are coming to Syria, and that the addressees may flee and that they will be pursued. 1
These are Hulagu's words as al-Suyuti relates them, and not the museum's judgement.
