Overview
"Al-Massir" is a historical drama film released in 1997, produced in Egypt and France, directed by Youssef Chahine. Its leading performers include Nour El Sherif, Khaled El Nabawy, Laila Elwy, Mahmoud Hemida and Safia El Emary. Youssef Chahine's film about Ibn Rushd in Cordoba of al-Andalus on the eve of the burning of his books, setting twelfth-century Cordoba beside Egypt in the 1990s, when religious extremism was confronted in the name of religion. 1 2
