Overview
Qarqisiya, at the confluence of the Khabur with the Euphrates, is one of the districts of al-Jazira. 1
Al-Baladhuri relates that Iyad sent Habib ibn Maslama al-Fihri to it, and he conquered it by treaty on the terms of the treaty of Raqqa. Then its people broke the covenant, and Umayr ibn Sa'd made peace with them on the same terms as their first treaty, when he took the Khabur route to the fortresses of the Euphrates. 1
He mentions that the rahba (courtyard) below it had no ancient trace, and was built in the caliphate of al-Ma'mun. 1
