Overview
Lakz is a land and a fortress in the high Caucasus. Marwan ibn Muhammad settled a group of the Khazars on its plain, between al-Samur and al-Shabran. 1
The lord of the fortress had refused to pay the tribute, and went out intending to reach the king of the Khazars, but a shepherd killed him with an arrow without knowing who he was. Marwan made peace with the people of Lakz for twenty thousand medimnoi, to be carried to the granary of the gate, and appointed over them Khashram al-Sulami. 1
It is connected with Marwan's campaign in the Caucasus.
