Overview

Khuzistan is a province, and a great district of the mountain districts. The Muslims conquered it in the caliphate of Umar; it was the seat of the kingdom of Hormuzan, the last of the marzbans of Fars. The horsemen received the terms of their conversion to Islam there, according to al-Baladhuri. 1 See also al-Ahwaz.
