Overview
Baza: one of the ancient cities of eastern al-Andalus. Carpets are made in Murcia, whose price is prized in the East, and they are made in Granada and Baza 2. It held out against the siege of the lord of Castile from Rajab to Dhu al-Hijja in the year 894 AH, with the hosts of Wadi Ash, Almeria, al-Munakkab and al-Bushrat, until food ran short. Its people tricked the besiegers by displaying food in the markets while they were in the utmost weakness, and the Christians entered its fortress on Friday, the tenth of Muharram in the year 895 AH. 3
