The king al-Adil Tuman Bay I
The king al-Adil Sayf al-Din Tuman Bay was one of the notable mamluks of Qaytbay. He prevailed in al-Sham, and then was given the oath of allegiance to the sultanate after Jan Balat was deposed. He sat on the throne in the afternoon of Saturday, the eighteenth of Jumada al-Akhira in the year 906 1.
From the time he prevailed in al-Sham his reign lasted four months and fifteen days, and from the time of his oath in the Cairo citadel it lasted three months and twenty-three days. He built the Adiliyya madrasa and his tomb outside Bab al-Nasr. Then the soldiers attacked him and killed him 1. The source gives his biography under the year 904, before the story ends, and it goes on to name the sultans who followed one another.
