Overview
Suwayd ibn al-Samit, from Yathrib, of the Banu Amr ibn Awf of the Aws. He was called "al-Kamil" (the Accomplished). al-Samhudi cites him 2.
Before Islam
The source says that in the pre-Islamic period he combined writing, archery and swimming. He was called "al-Kamil" for his strength and his poetry 2.
His meeting with the Prophet
He came to Mecca, and the Prophet invited him to Islam. He neither drew away from it nor answered it. He then returned to Yathrib, and was killed shortly afterwards, on the day of Bu'ath 2.
al-Samhudi transmits from Ibn Ishaq that men of his people used to say: "We see that he was killed while he was a Muslim." This is the view of his people; the data does not link his Islam to any other evidence 2.
