Salit ibn Amr

Of Banu Amir ibn Lu'ayy; he emigrated to Abyssinia — Ibn Ishaq describes him as the Messenger of God's envoy to Hawdha ibn Ali al-Hanafi at al-Yamama. ¹

Ibn Ishaq names him among Banu Amir in "the rest of the Abyssinian emigrants", describing him as having been "the Messenger of God's envoy to Hawdha ibn Ali al-Hanafi at al-Yamama". ¹ The book gives no details of his mission here; that is reviewed in the chapter on the Prophet's envoys to the kings (a later batch).

Ibn Hajar gives him his own entry in al-Isaba, no. 3561: "Salit ibn Amr (may God be pleased with him), the Qurashi of the Amiri clan, son of the brother of Suhayl ibn Amr"; Ibn Ishaq named him among the envoys to the kings — he was sent to Hawdha ibn Ali, the chief of al-Yamama — and among the emigrants to Abyssinia, where he emigrated with his wife Umm Yaqza bint Alqama and she bore him there Salit ibn Salit; Ibn Ishaq also listed him among those martyred at al-Yamama. The entry concludes that the accounts are of one man: he was the envoy to Hawdha ibn Ali. ²

He belongs, per Ibn Ishaq, to Banu Amir ibn Lu'ayy ¹
