Overview
Qaydar, the second of the twelve sons of Ismail that al-Rahiq al-Makhtum counts, born to the daughter of Mudad al-Jurhumi. Of the two whose descendants' accounts have been preserved, they are Nabit and Qaydar 1 2.
Ancestor of the Adnanite Arabs
The lineage of Qaydar's sons continued to multiply in Mecca, until Adnan and his son Ma'add came from him. The Adnanite Arabs preserved their genealogies from Adnan 1. The author notes that Adnan is the twenty-first ancestor in the Prophet ﷺ's genealogy, and that when the Prophet traced his lineage and reached Adnan, he stopped. Several scholars allowed raising the genealogy above Adnan, and said that there are forty fathers between Adnan and Abraham 1 3 4.
Governance of Mecca
After Ismail, two of his sons ruled Mecca, Nabit and then Qaydar, or the reverse is said. Then their grandfather Mudad ibn Amr al-Jurhumi took over 5 6.
For young visitors
