محمد بن إبراهيم بن محمد بن علي

Muhammad ibn Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn Ali al-Hashimi; in al-Baladhuri: sent to Malatya in year 141 at the head of a Khurasani force with al-Musayyab ibn Zuhayr over his police, garrisoning it lest the enemy covet it until its remaining people returned; then Musa al-Hadi gave him the Jazira and Qinnasrin in place of Ali ibn Sulayman, and he levied for Madinat al-Hadath a contingent of Syrians, Jazirans and Khurasanis at forty dinars' pay, granting house-lots and three hundred dirhams a man — completed in year 169; al-Rashid built and garrisoned Zibatra by his hand, and the works of Madinat al-Hadath likewise ran on his authority for al-Rashid until he was removed.

Overview

Muhammad ibn Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn Ali al-Hashimi. Al-Baladhuri relates that he was sent to Malatya in 141 AH with troops from Khurasan, with al-Musayyab ibn Zuhayr as his chief of police. He stationed himself there so that the enemy would not covet it, and the remaining people of the town returned to it. 1

His governorship

Caliph al-Hadi appointed him over al-Jazira and Qinnasrin, in succession to Ali ibn Sulayman. He assigned to the city of al-Hadath troops from Syria, al-Jazira and Khurasan, granted them dwellings, and gave each man three hundred dirhams; the work was completed in 169 AH. The building of Zubtara and the settlement of al-Hadath were carried out by him in the caliphate of al-Rashid, and then he was removed. 1
