Overview

Mahuwayh, marzban of Marw. Al-Baladhuri says that he received Yazdgerd with great honour and reverence. Then Yazdgerd ordered him to be called to account and asked him about the money. Mahuwayh wrote to Nizak inciting him against Yazdgerd, and they combined to kill him. 1

This report is from al-Baladhuri alone and needs an additional source. The person meant may be the same as in the entry on Mahwiya, marzban of Marw; that is not established here.

The index records his march to Khurasan and the conquests he made there in 31 AH. According to al-Baladhuri, he came to Basra in the year 29, when all of Fars had been conquered except Istakhr and Jur.
