Life in time
Overview
A Mamluk sultan of Circassian origin. He sprang on al-Mu'ayyad Ahmad ibn Jaqmaq and seized him in Ramadan 865 AH. The caliph al-Mustanjid then invested him, and he took the title al-Zahir. He remained until he died in Rabi' of 872 AH. 2
The story of the caliph
When he was first invested, the governor of Syria, Janam, came to him because of an agreement between him and the army. He ordered the caliph, the judges and the army to go up to the citadel, and then did not allow him to return to his residence, so the caliph remained in the citadel. 2
