Summary

Lord of Rum, al-Malik al-Ghalib 'Izz al-Din Kaykawus ibn Kaykhusraw ibn Qilij Arslan the Seljuk; sultan of Konya, Aksaray and Malatya, brother of Sultan 'Ala' al-Din Kayqubad; the Shadharat says he took Antioch from the Franks in 612 — yet Antioch stayed in Frankish hands until 666, so the city name seems confused and more likely it is Sinope, which he took in 611; in Ibn al-'Imad's description he was a tyrant, a wrongdoer, a shedder of blood — it is said he died suddenly drunk, and they brought out his brother 'Ala' al-Din and crowned him after him, in Shawwal 615. 1
