Summary

Abu'l-Ma'ali Muhammad ibn Abi Sa'd al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn 'Ali ibn Hamdun the katib, surnamed Kafi al-Kufat Baha' al-Din al-Baghdadi; of a house famed for headship and merit; he was muster-master for al-Muqtafi then head of the Mustanjid's diwan al-zimam; he compiled the Tadhkira, among the finest miscellanies — history, adab, anecdotes and poetry, nothing later gathered its like, famous and widely found. 1

His imprisonment

The imam al-Mustanjid came upon tales in it and judged them a slur on the state; he was taken from office, imprisoned and forgotten in early 462, and died in custody. 1
