Husayn ibn ʿAla al-Dawla ibn Uways

Husayn ibn ʿAla al-Dawla ibn Ahmad ibn Uways, of the descendants of Uways al-Jalayiri. Timur Lang captured him and his brother Hasan and took them to Samarqand, then released them. Their father had been ruler of Basra, and when he died his son Shah Muhammad succeeded him. Husayn became his friend and was appointed to rule the realm, and he seized Basra, Wasit and other places. Then Asfahan Shah ibn Qara Yusuf fought him, and Husayn turned to Shah Rukh ibn Timur Lang and strengthened himself by attaching himself to him. He came to Cairo toward the end of the days of al-Muʾayyad and died of plague on the eighteenth of Jumada II, 835 AH 1.
