Overview
Barra daughter of Abd al-Muttalib, aunt of the Prophet, one of the daughters of Abd al-Muttalib ibn Hashim whom al-Mubarakfuri's "Al-Rahiq al-Makhtum" counts in its section on the Prophet's family. 1
Counting the daughters of Abd al-Muttalib
What is not recorded here
Al-Rahiq al-Makhtum says nothing here of her life, her marriage or her religion. Only what the book says is recorded here; what the biographical and genealogical books say needs a source to be read and quoted.
For young visitors
Abd al-Muttalib, the grandfather of the Prophet, had many sons and daughters, and Barra was one of them, so she was one of the uncles and aunts of the Prophet.
