Overview

A Companion who heard the Prophet at Arafat during the Farewell Pilgrimage, and related some words of his sermon. 1

His report

Ibn Ishaq relates from Layth ibn Abi Sulaym, from Shahr ibn Hawshab al-Ash'ari, from Amr ibn Kharija (may God be pleased with him), that Utab ibn Usayd sent him to the Prophet on some business while the Prophet was standing at Arafat. He delivered the message, then stood under the Prophet's camel, its foam falling on his head, and heard him say: "O people, God has given every person with a right his right, and there is no bequest to an heir, the child belongs to the bed and the adulterer gets the stone; and whoever claims to be of other than his father, or follows other than his masters, the curse of God, the angels and all the people is upon him." 1 2 The editors explain "al-Lugham" as the foam that comes out of a camel's mouth. 1
