Overview
'Imad al-Din Abu Muhammad 'Abd al-Rahman b. 'Abdallah al-Nayhi the Shafi'i — of Nayh, a small town between Sijistan and Isfarayin; Ibn al-Sam'ani says in al-Ansab he was "a virtuous imam, learned and working, a memoriser of gold, eager for hadith and its spread, devout, blessed, much praying and worshipping, of fine character." 1
His madhhab
He read fiqh under al-Baghawi and a great company of scholars was formed on him; Ibn al-Sam'ani attended his dictation sessions at Marw. Shaykh of the Shafi'is of that land, he has a book in the madhhab which Ibn al-Salah inspected and excerpted for rarities. He died in Sha'ban 548. 1
