Overview

Al-Muhajir ibn Ziyad al-Harithi, brother of al-Rabi' ibn Ziyad ibn al-Dayyan, who took part in the siege of Manadhir. Al-Baladhuri relates that he wanted to sell himself in the cause of God while fasting, and Abu Musa told him to break his fast or not to go out. He drank a sip of water and said he had not drunk it from thirst. Then he fought until he was killed. 1

The source says that the people of Manadhir raised his head on their fortress between two battlements, and that the Arabs said a verse about him beginning: "Al-Muhajir departed in a fine rhythmic trade". 1

The exact date of the event is not set out here and needs an additional source.
