Overview

Abu Sa'id al-Mu'ayyad b. Muhammad b. 'Ali b. Muhammad al-Alusi, the famous poet; among the notables of his age's poets, abundant in love-verse and satire — he praised a company of Iraq's chiefs and has a diwan. Ibn al-Najjar mentions him in Tarikh Baghdad: born at Alus, a village near al-Haditha, raised at Dujayl, entered Baghdad and became a jawish in al-Mustarshid's days, attaching himself to the vizier 'Awn al-Din Yahya b. Hubayra with fine panegyrics on him. 1

His misfortune

Then fortune tripped him and he was imprisoned; Ibn Khallikan met him in 555, his sight veiled by the darkness of the matmura in which he was held. 1
