Sultan Ahmad III, son of Mehmed IV, who ruled from 1115 to 1143 AH (1703–1730 CE). 2
Al-Salabi says that the banner of holy war stayed raised in his time, and that the state regained the Morea and Azak. The Ottomans besieged the Russian tsar Peter and his army. The grand vizier Baltaci Mehmed Pasha then lifted the siege and signed the Treaty of Pruth in Jumada al-Akhira 1123 AH, for which the sultan dismissed him. 2
The Treaty of Edirne was then signed in 1125 AH with the mediation of the Netherlands and England, and Russia gave up the shores of the Black Sea. The Ottomans defeated the Venetians. Belgrade fell to Austria in 1129 AH (1717 CE), and the Treaty of Passarowitz was concluded in 1130 AH (1718 CE). 2
He was the son of Mehmed IV and was succeeded by Mustafa II. 2
