Life in time
Overview
The sultan Abu al-Rabi' Sulayman ibn Abd al-Haqq al-Marini ruled from 708 to 710 AH, as the successor of his brother Abu Thabit in the sultanate of the Marinids. The Marinids gave him their allegiance after his brother's death. 1
His days
Ibn Khaldun relates that he seized his uncle Ali ibn Rizaka, who had sought the matter, defeated Uthman ibn Abi al-Ala' at the square of Aludan, and made peace with the lord of Tlemcen. He describes his days as the best of days: truce, calm and luxury, to the point that people went to excess in the prices of property, and houses in Fez were sold for a thousand dinars, and they vied in building with stone, marble and tiles. 1
He died at Tazi in 710 AH. 1
