Overview
His conquests
Al-Baladhuri says that he besieged the marzban of Zaranj on their feast day, and made peace with him for two million dirhams and two thousand slaves. Then he went to Kush on the side of India, and to the lands of al-Dawar, and besieged them on the mountain of al-Zawr and made peace with them. 1
The report says that he entered al-Zawr, which was a golden idol with two rubies for its eyes; he cut off its hand and took the rubies, and told the marzban that he wished to show him that the idol neither harms nor benefits. He conquered Bust and Zabul by covenant. 1
