Chain of transmission
Summary
Malik transmits from Nafi, from Abdullah ibn Umar, that the Prophet ﷺ said: if there are three, two may not confide in each other excluding the third. The editor notes Ibn Abd al-Barr's view that Nafi, Ibn Dinar, Abu Salih, al-Qasim ibn Muhammad and others transmitted the hadith from Ibn Umar; that Ibn Dinar's version explains it; and that the two hadiths are in effect one. 1
