Chain of transmission
Summary
Malik transmits from Nafi, from Abu Lubaba, that the Prophet ﷺ forbade killing the snakes in houses. The editor notes Ibn Abd al-Barr's view that the correct transmission from Malik is Yahya's and others', from Nafi from Abu Lubaba, because Nafi heard it with Ibn Umar from Abu Lubaba. He also notes that al-Qa'nabi added an exception for the two-striped and the stumpy-tailed snake from the hadith of Ibn Umar, and that Ibn Abd al-Barr decided this was one of al-Qa'nabi's errors. 1
