Summary

Malik transmits from Abu al-Zinad, from al-A'raj, from Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him), that the Messenger of God ﷺ said: the needy one is not this wanderer who goes round the people, who is turned away with one morsel or two, one date or two. They said: then who is the needy, Messenger of God? He said: the one who finds no sufficiency to make him independent, nor is he noticed so that charity is given him, nor does he stand and ask people. 1
